How Massage DIY Saves You Money
When you do the massage at home, your partner would benefit best from the exercise when you prepare the environment appropriately. Make sure that everything is clean, the ambiance is there and that you have your tools setup. Usually, the bedroom is where people do the massage using the mattress but you can do it anywhere in the house as long as the recipient is comfortable. Remember, their needs come first.
You want to use scented oils that your partner likes so make sure to ask them beforehand. Use soothing music that your partner appreciates too. They don’t have to be classical or just instrumental. They can be gentle rock, folk or whatever else. Then there’s the candles which are optional but still a nice touch.
Before you even set the date on when the massage will happen, you also have to make sure that you have the basic items on hand. If you just want to give them the full-body treatment, a bowl and a face towel will do. Prepare hot water and tea too. Naturally, you should know how massage should feel like just to make things easier.
Finally, we get to the massage part. If you don’t already know how to give a massage, it’s best to start simple. This means focusing on large muscle groups like the neck, the shoulders, the back, the arms and the legs. Avoid doing anything fancy until you’ve at least done this a few times.
Have your partner lay down on their stomach. Wet the towel in the bowl of hot water and wipe your partner’s body down from head to toe. Be careful not to burn them though. Put the towel and hot water away.
The shoulders are the best first target for your massage since that’s where the tougher muscles are concentrated and where stress builds up easily. Start applying gentle pressure first and keep it even for the first few minutes. Then steadily build up in order to allow your partner to acclimate. Once they start showing signs of discomfort, that’s when you know you should ease up a bit and dial it down to a more comfortable level.
Spend at least ten minutes on that area before moving on to the neck. After the neck, go for the shoulders, the arms, the hands and the fingers. Once done, you can return to the lower back and work your way down to both legs and feet.
One thing to remember about how massage works is you get better over time. So just keep at it and you’ll be a pro in no time.
